Looking for Last Day of School Fun? Only budgeted a dollar a kid? NO Problem!!

It is tradition (don't you know if you do something twice it suddenly becomes tradition LOL) to have a shaving cream fight after school on the last day of school to ring in the summer. Let me just say there is never more fun than can come from 5, buck a piece, shaving cream cans can buy!! I will only allow it that one weekend because it is a big mess to clean up and it does something very odd the the hair. The kids know to get as much out of it as they can, while they can, so needless to say they do.
PS we learned that the aloe kind burn a little and will be avoided next year.

Why does this friendly gesture look very suspicious?
HO HO HO!!

  1. Try to avoid the gel kinds too as they don't fluff up as much as the ready to go kind. It is a fun cheap way to keep them amused for the entire afternoon and evening. Glad to say I started this tradition back in the 80's and is cool to watch the kids carry it on today. Enjoy!

  2. I think we both started in the 80's except it was at kids walking home for me. I was a bad naughty baby back then! LOL!

  3. We weren't allowed to bring backpacks to school the last day because we always had shaving cream fights on the way home. So we would hide the cans in bushes on the way home! The streets were always covered! I never thought of just doing it in the yard! Thanks for the idea!!

  4. What fun! I always did a last day of school party for my son, it was not as fun as yours, but the kids will remember it forever!

My Funeral Potatoes

This recipe is for a classic Funeral Potatoes, or Cheesy potatoes Casserole, that uses fresh potatoes. (I haven't had as much luck with frozen potatoes with this one) It's a comforting and hearty dish that's perfect for gatherings or potlucks. It is addapted from my moms kitchen and I love it! Sometimes I top it with a crumb crust and sometimes its is just topped with cheese but it is delish both ways!

Baked Potato Butter Compound

Are you planning a baked potato bar soon? This butter may take it to the next level. I was inspired by a BBQ restaurant we go to on occasion that serves something similar. Its quite delicious and makes dressing the potato easier. Guests can just grab the butter balls which potentially keeps the line moving verses stopping to add their butter. The butter compound has cheese and seasonings mixed together and tasty!
