I love advent calendars! I actually have several. Like more calendars than family members. Have I mentioned I LOVE Christmas? LOL!! SO...... After trying many different types the children and I have decided that this is one of the favorite ways for us to count down to Christmas. We love the little treat every day, (I am definitely not going to win any healthy mom awards in December. Darn!) we love that when we are done with it there is nothing to store and we really love visually watching it get shorter as the holiday gets closer. Plus the kids get to help or flat our make their own. They love crafting too!!
Here is a list of what you will need:
duct tape
(there are so many cute colors now you can use we just happened to have boring gray already)
wrapping paper
candy
a prize or big candy for Christmas Eve (not necessary but fun!!)
1 Gather all your stuff
2. Make a cute bow out of M&M's bag if you decide to. I have used all kinds of things for the top. Its really your preference.
Roll out a good amount of Duct Tape to stick your 24 pieces of candy on
Place your candy on with a finger or 2 in between each piece.
Continue down the line until you have 24 items stuck to the Duct Tape
Cut a strip of wrapping paper just wider than your candy and about 1 and a half times as long as your duct tape strip.
Place the wrapping paper strip over your candies
Press the paper down on the exposed duct tape
Hang on the wall, I have done everything for creating a little loop to use as a hanger to just thumb tacking it up. No pressure no hype for the hanging device.
Cut off one candy a day until the big day and enjoy watching the time/calendar shrink!! PS Yes I do make one for each person so no sharing of one candy piece is required.
Enjoy!
loves to all!!!

This is so much fun! The older kids love to pick the order their candies go in and it really is fun to watch them slowly disappear during the month. Thanks for sharing Emi!
