What my doc said and My Menu

I decided I needed to see the doctor.  I wasn't loosing the weight I was working at to loose and I was extremely tired.  Like Incredibly tired.  I found what I consider to be a great doc who listened really well to me.  He ran a bunch of blood work (15 vials worth) I thought for sure he was going to tell me my thyroid was off because I had all the symptoms.  Nope.  My thyroid is just fine.  I have hypoglycemia, dangerously low vitamin D levels and stage 2 hypertension.  I didn't even know there were stages.  See I am already learning things.  Now I am taking meds. 4 to be exact not including my supplements (like vitamin D) 9 pills in total everyday and I am having to learn a whole new way to eat.  A combination of the Dash diet, (low sodium and lots of fruits and veggies and whole grains etc) and weight watchers to get the weight down and I get keep my carbs in check as well.  I am allowed date night freedom to chose what I want and a treat once a week with the kids for FHE.  Its a lot of change! I am also under instruction to exercise 5-6 days a week.  Whatever I chose to do as long as it get my heart rate up to 140 BPM and keep it there for 30 to 40 minutes. Wow! Not easy but will be totally worth it! I just have to keep the eyes on the prize.
 Life.
Yep.  That's my prize.  I get to be and stay here and if I get the weight down no shots within the year. SO WORTH IT!!

It's not like even exercising.. it's fun and it gets you moving. I'm also going to try to get my self back to the YWCA to swim this week as well.. the Prize is worth it.. I'm also quitting smoking.. so I really feel the pain!! Good luck and keep us posted on how your doing!!

Italian Nachos

My sweetheart and I would order this from Johnny Carino's. He was first and as soon as I tried it I had a hard time ordering anything but this. Although, I really loved their lasagna, oh, and their chicken parmesan sandwiches AND their wedge salad...OK I loved Johnny's! I was very sad when they closed in our area. Luckily for us we knew that dish by heart and have been able make it at home. I think you will love it! If you could bring back one restaurant from your past which one would it be?
